A research was undertaken by specialists from Queen's University Belfast. In this research, they had conducted a survey of overall state of health on the regularity of sexual intercourse. They studied the mortality data among approximately 1,000 middle-aged men over a period of ten years. It was found that men who had active sex lives had the mortality rate of much lower than men who did not have sex at all.

Sex helps in relieving stress

One of the greatest health benefits of sex is that it lowers blood pressure and stress . This was a research done by researchers from Scotland, the report of which was published in the journal Biological Psychology. They studied 24 women and 22 men whose sexual activities were kept in record. After that they were subjected to some stressful situations like speaking in public and doing verbal arithmetic. During this situation, their blood pressure was recorded. It was found that those who had intercourse had better responses to stress than others who were only engaged in other sexual behaviors or abstained form it. It was also found that frequent intercourse was associated with lower diastolic blood pressure. Yet other research found a link between partner hugs and lower blood pressure in women.

Sex helps in heart care

The researchers also found that having sex twice or more a week reduced the risk of fatal heart attack by half for the men, compared with those who had sex less than once a month. The risk of heart diseases reduces with sex.

Sex helps in losing weight

Sex is basically a physical exercise and doing this exercise means you are burning 200 calories. This is the same amount as 15 minutes of running track or playing a game of tennis. You lose weight. Another benefit of sex that with sex, there is muscle contractions which work out pelvis, hips, buttocks, hands and chest. Having sex also increases the production of testosterone , which leads to strengthening of your bones and muscles.

Reducing depression level

With sex, the depression level decreases. It was found that women who are sexually active were less subject to depression. It was also found that that women's whose sexual partners did not use condoms during intercourse were more happy that women whose partners used condoms.

Sex helps in relieving pain

When the orgasm is reached during a sexual intercourse, the level of hormone oxytocin increases which lead to increase in endorphins. Endorphins have a pain-relieving effect on the body for any type of ache. Thus if you feel that your headache or your arthritis pain has gone down, its all due to increase in oxytocin. For women, having sex also leads to the production of estrogen, the basic female sex hormone, which can suppress pains related to premenstrual period.

Sex helps in boosting immunity

It has been found in a research study that people who have sex once or twice a week have 30% more antibodies compared to those who have sex less. These antibodies are called called immunoglobulin A, and helpful for strengthening the immune system.

Improving bladder condition

An important exercise for genitals' muscles is to stop the urination when you have the urge. This increases bladder and bowel control and improve sexual function. These same muscles are worked out during sexual intercourse.

Sex helps in improving teeth conditions

Surprising, isn' it? But the fact is that seminal plasma consists of calcium, zinc, and other minerals which are helpful in slowing down the destruction of teeth.
