Fruits and Vegetables for Maximum Nutrition

In order to promote good health, our body needs fruits and vegetables. Vegetables and fruits are packed with essential nutrients such as fiber, minerals, vitamins, etc, which are necessary to prevent the body from various diseases. Intake of veggies and fruits should be an essential part of daily diet. It is highly suggested that one should eat different colored fruits to get all the essential nutrients. Dark leafy vegetables are enriched with Vitamin C while yellow and orange items are high in beta-carotene.

Four Major Nutrients Required by Body

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrate is the main source of energy in human body. These carbs are divided into two groups: complex and simple carbs. Lactose, sucrose, fructose, etc are simplex carbs. On the other hand, complex carbohydrates are found in cereals, whole grains, vegetables etc.

Fats

Fats are vital for our body to carry out various bodily functions. Monosaturated, Saturated and Polyunsaturated are the three types of fats. Olives, peanuts, fish oil, etc are the sources to consume these fats. Fats help in the strengthening of immune system, lungs and liver.

Proteins

Proteins are the building materials of body and are required for all hormone, tissues, and cell productions. Legumes, fish, eggs, meat and dairy products are some of the major sources of protein. Proteins are required for the growth of new muscles.

Water

Human body consists two third of water. Water is essential for the working of body. It assists transport nutrients and flushes out harmful toxins from body. It is vital for circulatory, digestive, absorption, and excretory functions.

-Consume vegetables and fruits in copious amount
-One must add cereals and whole grains in daily diet
-Healthy fats such as avocados, olive oil, cold water fish, raw nuts and seeds make great health food choice.
-Take at least 5-6 meals in a day and stay away from unhealthy food items
-As compared to fried foods, baked or grilled food is better for health
